IMPORTANT NOTICE!!! - Heavy rains are expected on Friday, in which case all outdoor activities will be canceled and we will meet in the St. Francis hotel lobby, next to Union Square, at 12 noon.  All drivers going to Reno should be prepared for severe weather, including snow, and a 1pm San Francisco departure.

San Francisco

Freedom Drive 2002     Kick-off Rally at Union Square - Fri. Nov. 8th

12-1 pm String quartet performing classical music circa 1789
1-5 pm Petition signing -- WTP volunteers are needed
5-6 pm Speakers: Bob Schulz and Devvy Kidd
7-8 pm Marching bands from Stanford Univ. and Cal Berkeley
8 pm Freedom Drive caravan departs from Union Square

Volunteers Needed

We will have tables set up in Union Square and at the cable car turn-around near the Powell St. Station. We need volunteers who will ask people to sign the petitions, handout pocket constitutions and WTP/Joe Banister cards. This is a great opportunity to get our message out -- there will be thousands of people in the vicinity.  Please contact Rick George by e-mail at: mail@rickgeorge.com to volunteer.

Union Square Parking
The best parking rates are at the Sutter-Stockton Garage (enter from Stockton just north or Sutter or from Bush just east of Stockton) and the Ellis-O'Farrell Garage (enter on Ellis between Stockton and Powell). The Union Square garage right under Union Square (enter from Geary between Stockton and Powell) is convenient but a little more expensive.

Freedom Drive Caravan Departure

The SF Freedom Drive caravan will depart from Union Square at 7pm on Fri. Nov 8th. We will head over the Bay Bridge toward Oakland and take I-80 E to Reno, where we will spend the night.
