“We Are Not Alone.”

GML2004 Conference a Major Success
Right to Petition Lawsuit Initiated

“It’s nice to know we are not alone.”  These were the words heard most frequently from the people who attended the WTP Give Me Liberty 2004 conference. “Not only was it good to meet and interact with so many people from all over the country, but the speakers were awesome – so impressive – so eloquent – true patriots -- so supportive of We The People.”

These thoughts, and the ones below are representative of the experiences shared by so many during the conference.  From the perspective of the Foundation, the conference served as a “public unveiling” of the fight to restore the 1st Amendment’s  Right to Petition and initiated a much needed dialogue among some of the leading conservative leaders and voices about how to correct the many structural and systemic problems confronting our nation via use of that long-forgotten Right.

Among the spectrum of topics covered during the 3-day conference were: the diminishment of the Right to own and use a gun to protect persons and property, widespread judicial tyranny, abuse of prosecutorial power, the unconstitutionally enforced income tax, the failings of the media in protecting freedom and the significant challenges the conservative movement of this nation faces in stopping a nation seemingly hell-bent on rolling into the 21st century in total denial of the written Constitution that founded this nation and that expressly limits the power of the federal government.

Here is how one couple from New Mexico put it in an e-mail message after they returned home: “Dear Bob, Devvy, and all who helped organize the 2004 Conference, Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.  The speakers were phenomenal and the folks we met there helped strengthen our resolve to "stay the course" and continue with our personal efforts to educate and enlighten others about WTP's mission.  We are so glad we had the opportunity to attend. Again, thank you all for a great three days!!”

Here is a note sent to us from a couple from Pennsylvania,  “We wanted to thank you for a wonderful and inspiring 3 days. We enjoyed all of the speakers and look forward to receiving the DVD’s and sharing them with our friends and family. Take Care.”

Here is a note from Dave in Boston, “Thanks for a fantastic conference and all you have done in the cause of restoring this country to its roots.  It is such a beacon of hope... Thanks again, and God Bless.”

Here is a note from Ken, who accessed the conference via the Internet, “Please congratulate Bob Schulz for me.  What an outstanding conference!  I heard several hours of it via internet… Many thanks to all of you who are doing an outstanding job for all of us.”

Here is a note from David in Oregon,” I am at a loss for words--You have done such a wonderful job and continue to amaze me with your skills, honesty, acumen, and gathering the right and left together. The people who are presenting are all that I had hoped for and more. I am watching the live web cast which is a miracle in itself.  Wish I had found a way to be there with you (WTP). I will make a more determined effort be there next time you (WTP) call. Sent email to NRA expressing my dismay for their failure to attend. May the Creator of Heaven and Earth Bless you, your family and your work.”

We were very pleased that 14 graduate students from the Georgetown University Business School attended.

We were pleased with the remark by one of the many people who had registered to attend the nearby C-PAC conference and decided to look in on our conference after visiting the booth we had set up at the C-PAC conference. She said, “I didn’t know your organization was so large.”

The Senior Editor of Reason magazine attended GML 2004 with a press pass. This week, during a 31/2 hour interview with Bob Schulz he said he was not only impressed by the speakers and the large number of people who attended the conference, but he was very impressed with how attentive those in the audience were to the speakers and panelists. His article will be published in the April issue of Reason.

Here is a message from Marcy Brooks from Kentucky, a member of the jury in the Illinois trial (acquittal) of Whitey Harrell, “Hi, this is Marcy Brooks - just wanted to thank everyone who was at the conference for making me so welcome! If you didn't attend you really missed a phenomenal weekend. To me the highlights were Alan Keys and "Bay" Buchanan but all the speakers were great. I believe one of the issues most needed to be understood is the idea of judges being taken to task for judicial misconduct. Having been a juror in the Whitey Harrell case, I don't think I would have stood for the type of tyranny I heard of during the weekend. We really need to inform the public on their rights as jurors but also to be teaching people critical thinking skills. The sessions were great but I was also deeply touched by the questions and discussions "out of session." I know they taped everything and will be releasing a CD soon and I would think most of the main speakers will be available on video.”

Finally, here is a message from a woman from Ohio, “Just wanted to pass on to you that I thoroughly enjoyed participating in last week’s 1st Annual Give Me Liberty 2004 Conference sponsored by the We The People Foundation for Constitutional Education/We The People Congress.  I met, spoke with, or listened to the speeches of some very interesting people, including:

We at WTP are very pleased with the results of GML 2004. It truly was a fine experience. We appreciate the fact that hundreds of people attended in person and many, many more from across our nation “attended” via the Internet.

While all the featured speakers who spoke during the conference sessions and during the Jefferson Banquet were inspiring, and we are ever grateful to them all (Charlie Beall, Joe Sobran, Aaron Russo, G. Edward Griffin, Hutton Gibson, Alan Keyes, Daniel Lapin, Bay Buchanan, and Joe Farah), Charlie Beall, Hutton Gibson and Alan Keyes really brought the house down with their incredibly moving and inspiring speeches.  Charlie Beall spoke eloquently on the relationship between our nation’s spiritual values and principles contrasted against the current status of our civil governments.  Hutton Gibson (father of Mel Gibson) presented, in rapid fire fashion, a long list of governmental and moral disorders in America – what Bob Schulz referred to as the largest amount of truth he had ever received in one dose, and Alan Keyes delivered a 50-minute oratory calling for the end of the unconstitutional “slave tax” (i.e., income tax) that will not be forgotten soon by anyone in the banquet audience.

Each of the six panel sessions was enlightening, with all the speakers/panelists making important contributions to the cause of freedom and the restoration of Constitutional order. On Thursday there were two sessions, one on the Right To Petition and one on the Constitution v Gun Control. On Friday, there were two sessions, one on the Constitution v The Federal Reserve and one on Judicial & Prosecutorial Misconduct. On Saturday there were two sessions: one on the Constitution v. The Income Tax and one on the Constitution v the USA Patriot Act, the Judicial Accountability Initiative Law, the unconstitutional denial of Father’s Rights and the need for Legal Reform.

GML 2004 coming on CD-ROMs and VHS

We are in the process of preparing CD-ROMs (probably 6 to a set) and VHS tapes (probably 3 to a set) of the GML 2004 conference.  We are also giving some consideration to putting the conference on DVDs (10-15 to a set), CD- Audio (10-12 per set) and cassette tapes. We are moving as fast as possible to complete this project.   We will announce shortly when the these products will be available for a small donation to the Foundation.

Right to Petition lawsuit has been initiated

On October 30, 2003, WTP entered into a Second Retainer Agreement with the Mark Lane Law Firm for Phase II of the Right To Petition lawsuit. Provided WTP was able to raise the required money from contributions from various donors, WTP would pay the Firm $285,000 to prosecute Phase II of the case.

On January 21, 2004, WTP entered into a Supplemental Agreement with Mark Lane, who agreed to prosecute the complaint in the US District Court and the Claim in the Court of Claims for $100,000 AND a good-faith effort by WTP to raise the remaining $185,000 from contributions from WTP’s various donors.

The Right to Petition lawsuit was initiated on January 21, 2004, with the service of a Notice of Claim on the Treasury Department, the IRS and the Department of Justice.

On January 24, 2004, WTP delivered a check to Mark Lane in the amount of $100,000.

WTP takes advantage of this opportunity to thank all the people who have thus far contributed their hard-earned money toward the Right To Petition lawsuit.  Although the lawsuit is now underway, per our agreement, we will continue to seek donations to cover the significant costs of prosecuting this historic legal action.

The class we will seek to have certified by the court will be all those individuals and corporations that have, in one way or another, Petitioned the government for a Redress of Grievances regarding the internal revenue laws.  That is, individuals that have petitioned the government for answers to questions regarding the law that required them to withhold, file and pay taxes based on one's labor, but who did not receive responsive responses. We might refer to this population of individuals as the "Truth Seekers."  We need to begin to develop a database of these people ASAP.

We also need to begin to develop a database of those people within the population of “Truth Seekers” who have been retaliated against for petitioning for redress -- received a letter from the IRS, received a Summons, been raided, been indicted, been acquitted or convicted, been charged civilly, etc. We might refer to this population of individuals as the "Injured Truth Seekers."

We need also to begin to develop a database of specific damages, that is we need each of the Injured Truth Seekers to begin to consider, estimate and document the dollar costs they have incurred as a direct result of the government's retaliation against them: attorneys, lost wages, stress, etc. We respectfully request the Truth Seekers to start pulling the information together.

We have begun to develop the Internet pages and the databases to support these data collection efforts. We will announce when these systems are ready for the direct, on-line input from all Truth Seekers – that is, all members of the potential plaintiff class.

Within the next few days we will post a summary of the Complaint.

Please consider making a donation to the Foundation and help fund the Right to Petition lawsuit.
