1040 People to Surround IRS Headquarters

On Monday, April 9, 2001, at least 1040 people will encircle the IRS Headquarters building in Washington, DC. Each person will be wearing a navy blue windbreaker with the words "TYRANNY RESPONSE TEAM" written on the back in large, block letters.

The purpose of the IRS Walk-Around is to educate Americans about the fraudulent nature of the income tax system and the refusal of federal authorities to meet with the researchers of the "tax honesty" movement to rebut their specific charges and evidence that the income tax is without legal authority.

The People are faced with a government that has stepped outside the law, refuses to justify its behavior, evades all requests by concerned individuals and businessmen to answer legitimate questions, and uses a heavy handed, steel-fisted approach to enforcement of the income tax -- as though payment of the income tax by most Americans were compulsory when, in fact, most citizens apparently are not liable.

Commissioner Rossotti has been formally invited to address the People at 11:30 a.m. at the main entrance of the IRS headquarters building on Constitution Avenue. He has been asked to address the allegations of the fraud and the illegal operations of the income tax system, to explain the agency's position or to tell the citizens assembled when experts at the IRS will be available to meet with researchers of the tax honesty movement. He has been notified that a lectern and a public address system will be set up for his use.

The people will assemble at the Jefferson Memorial at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9th. The walk to the IRS building will start at 10:00 a.m.
